In the last years of the 16th century, the Discalced Carmelites arrived in Ávila from Duruelo, the first male foundation of the Order, with the idea of establishing a house in the city. After overcoming various difficulties, and having passed through different places, they acquired the remains of the house that had belonged to the Saint's family, with the idea of building the church and the church there, built on the birthplace of Teresa de Cepeda and Ahumada, is in conjunction with the Carmelite convent.
